For over six months, we’ve been keeping a secret at Provincial Mills. It started as a simple question: How do you capture the light of a legend in a bottle of ink?

Today, we are thrilled to finally pull back the curtain on our first-ever collaboration: Valkyrie Sky. This is an exclusive glitter / shimmer fountain pen ink, a radiant medium blue forged in partnership with the master chemists at KWZ Ink.

The Inspiration: A Legend and a Flash of Gold

If you know us, you know we are deep fans of mythology and high fantasy. When we began dreaming of our signature color, we were already playing with the name "Valkyrie Sky." We wanted something that felt celestial—inspired by the ancient sagas where the Valkyrie soar above the clouds.

When the final samples arrived from Poland and we saw this specific, radiant blue paired with that brilliant gold shimmer, the name didn't just fit—it felt destined. It captures that exact moment a warrior's shield catches the sun. It’s an ink for those documenting their own daily sagas, adding a legendary touch to every stroke.

The Collaboration: Global Expertise & "Suspension Magic"

Designing an ink from halfway across the world requires a partner who is as obsessed with detail as we are. Working with Konrad Żurawski was an incredible experience. Located in Poland, Konrad is not only a renowned chemist but a true perfectionist in the world of ink science.

We wanted a glitter / shimmer ink that defied the usual frustrations. We didn't want clogs, and we didn't want glitter that immediately sank to the bottom of the converter. This is why we turned to Konrad; we asked him to use the same renowned technology found in the KWZ All That Glitters line to create a unique new color with that same world-class glitter suspension.

The Science of the "Perfect Sample"

To get there, Konrad sent us over 10 different samples, each featuring a different combination of base color, glitter tone, and density. We were looking for that "Goldilocks" formula: enough shimmering glitter to look amazing, a reliable flow in all nib sizes, and a true muted blue that stands out on its own but shines when paired with gold.

Because Konrad approaches ink-making with a scientist’s precision, he created a formula where the gold shimmer stays suspended—standing guard like a warrior—for an extended period in both the bottle and your pen’s converter. You get a consistent "flash of gold" in every line without having to constantly shake your pen.

Performance in the Field

We didn’t just forge this for the looks; we forged it for the feel.

• The Shield-Maiden’s Flight: Thanks to KWZ’s signature lubrication, this ink makes even your "toothier" or scratchier nibs feel like they are gliding on air.

• Ragnarok-Ready Reliability: We used minuscule glitter particles specifically so this ink could flow through Fine nibs. You no longer need a massive 1.5mm stub nib just to enjoy a little sparkle.

• Now-You-See-It-Now-You-Don’t: This ink seriously has a "flash." When you write with it, you might see only the blue—until you move your head, the light shifts, or you tilt the paper. Then, a flash of gold comes from nowhere and illuminates the whole page!
