Golden Hues: A Touch of Elegance

Gold inks are elegant and sophisticated, reminiscent of sunlight glinting off golden leaves. A perfect choice is KWZ Honey. This warm, honeyed ink flows effortlessly and provides a luxurious feel to your notes. While it's one of the most popular colors among fountain pen users year-round, its rich, sun-kissed shade makes it an even more perfect companion for autumn writing.

As autumn leaves shift to crimson and burgundy, deep reds become essential for any seasonal collection. Alchemy's Drops of Mars is a luxurious choice. It's the kind of deep, captivating red that mirrors the vibrant color of maple leaves in their full autumn glory. The ink bottle itself is a work of art, with a unique, playful design that features a double-sided cork base, allowing it to either stand upright or rest at an angle for easy filling.

Provincial Mills at the Colorado Pen Show – Join Us!

We’re thrilled to announce that Provincial Mills will be at the Colorado Pen Show in October! Provincial Mills is an official sponsor of the show; what started as a passion for attending and supporting has grown into something bigger! We’ll be providing giveaways and door prizes for the show hosts to share with attendees. It’s our way of saying thanks to the community that continues to inspire us.

What Is a Pen Show?

A pen show is a gathering of collectors, calligraphers, artists, writers, and vendors—all united by their love for writing instruments. These events feature a vast array of fountain pens, vintage and modern writing tools, specialty inks, paper goods, and accessories. Attendees can browse, buy, sell, trade, and even test out pens before making a purchase. Many shows also offer workshops, seminars, and demonstrations on topics like calligraphy, ink chemistry, pen maintenance, and handwriting techniques.

New to Fountain Pens?

Not totally sure how they work—or worried you’ll feel out of place at the show? Join us for “Fountain Pens for Beginners” at 8:00 AM on Saturday, October 18, before the Pen Show opens its doors for the day. We’ll walk you through everything you need to know: how they write, how to fill them, and why people love them. You’ll even leave with a free fountain pen to start your journey. The class is $35, and spots are limited - reserve yours today at provincialmills.com. No pressure, just good vibes and great ink!

Why Pen Enthusiasts, Calligraphers, and Artists Love It

One of the most exciting aspects of a pen show is the ability to get hands-on before committing to a purchase. Unlike online shopping, where you rely on photos and reviews, here you can actually feel the weight and balance of a pen, test different nib sizes, and compare how various inks glide across paper.

  • Try Before You Buy – Some vendors allow you to test out merchandise prior to purchasing. Whether you're seeking a smooth-writing fountain pen or a crisp calligraphy tool, the opportunity to test nibs and ink flow ensures you find the perfect match for your writing style.

  • Ink Exploration – See how different inks behave on high-quality paper—test shading, sheen, and drying times in real-time rather than guessing from swatches online.

  • Paper Perfection – Experience first-hand how various papers interact with fountain pens and inks, helping you select the best journals or writing pads for your needs.

  • Storage Solutions – Browse pen cases, ink bottle organizers, and display trays, checking for durability, design, and practicality before making a decision.

Whether you’re looking for a new daily writer, a beautifully crafted fountain pen, or just eager to geek out over all things stationery, the Colorado Pen Show is the perfect place to immerse yourself in the art of writing.

Where to Find Us

As soon as you enter the show, look to the left - you’ll spot Provincial Mills just after you enter the main exhibit hall. Stop by to explore our latest selections, chat about all things writing, and maybe even discover your next favorite fountain pen.
