This vertex fountain pen was crafted from teak wood from the original deck of the USS North Carolina Battleship deck and matched with gun metal fittings. The pen features a magnetic cap which can be posted for easy storage while using the pen. The pen comes with an iridium tipped nib, one ink converter / pump, and one ink cartridge.
Teak is native to southern Asia and is also grown throughout tropical regions of Africa, Asia, and Latin America. Teak wood tends to be a golden or medium brown, but darkens with age. Teak wood is commonly used for shipbuilding, veneer, furniture, exterior construction, carving, and turning.
The USS North Carolina (BB-55)(nicknamed showboat) was the lead ship of North Carolina Class battleships and the fourth warship in the US Navy to be named in honor of the state of North Carolina. She was the first newly constructed American battleship to enter service during World War II, and she took part in every major naval offensive in the Pacific area of operations to become the most highly decorated American battleship of World War II, accumulating 15 battle stars. The USS North Carolina, decommissioned in June 1947, is now a museum ship and the memorial kept at the seaport of Wilmington, NC. The Teak used for this pen was part of the original deck that was replaced after more than 70 years of service.

With fountain pen purchases you also get one converter / ink pump, one ink cartridge, and fountain pen instructions. With our mechanical pencils you will also get instructions. We offer free USPS first class shipping on certain items.
First class shipping does not come with insurance, so if you would like to add insurance on your package please message us. We do offer USPS Priority Mail as a shipping upgrade or a primary means of shipping for certain items. Priority mail does come with $100 of insurance, if additional insurance is desired, please message us. We are not responsible for damaged or lost packages. The USPS does offer guidelines on time it takes to deliver packages. Please refer to our shipping policy for these guidelines. We normally ship orders the next day. Under certain circumstances there may be delays in shipping. Delays in shipping may be expected during certain holidays or during times when we are out of the shop for extended periods of time. When we are out of the shop, we will post a message at the top of our page to notify customers.
The pens offered by Provincial Mills are handcrafted in the United States (Colorado). We offer a 30 day money back guarantee on all handcrafted pens (excludes any shipping cost). If for any reason you are unhappy with the product, ship it back to us and we will refund the purchase price. All wood and antler pens are finished with a CA glue coating with gives them a longer lasting shine and helps protect the wood / antler.

We offer free First Class shipping through the USPS on certain items. Items shipped First Class do not come with any insurance. If insurance is desired on a package, please message us so we can add the cost. We do ship certain items or offer shipping upgrades for Priority Mail through the USPS. Packages shipped via Priority mail do come with $100 of insurance, but if additional insurance is requested please message us. We also utilize Parcel select Ground through the USPS for packages that are too large for First Class. Parcel select Ground does not come with insurance so if insurance is desired, please message us. We can also add Signature Confirmation to packages. If you would like Signature Confirmation please let us know and we will add the charge ($2.45) to your order.
The USPS offers the following time lines as a guide (not guaranteed) for package delivery within the United States:
First Class Mail: 2-5 days
Parcel select Ground: 2-9 days
Priority mail: 1-3 days
We ship items next business day under most circumstances, but there are times when we are unable to ship orders the following day. If there will be a delay in shipment due to our shop being closed or we are away at a show, we will have a message posted on our "Shop Announcement" section of our home page (near the top of the page). During busy holiday seasons there are times when we are unable to ship next day.
Once the package is shipped you will be notified and furnished with a tracking number. We cannot be responsible for packages that are lost or damaged by the USPS. If an incident does occur, please contact us and we will assist you with mitigating the loss.

If you are not happy with your purchase, please contact us within 21 days and return the undamaged product within 30 days and we will refund the purchase price minus shipping costs. Returned items must be in the same condition as they were when shipped (no scratches, wear and tear, broken pieces ect.). Due to the nibs and ink used in fountain pens, the fountain pens must be unused if returned.
