Our 'Pen Plan' subscription is created for those who love pens! You can keep each monthly shipment for yourself or choose what to gift to a friend. You can even choose to purchase the entire subscription for the special pen lover in your life!
The 'Pen Plans':
Gold 'Pen Plan' -
This is the more expensive of the two plans, but it is well worth it! The majority of the pens in this plan are made from rare or high value material, including: historical wood, rare burls, antler, acrylic, and more. Some of the woods used to make these pens, are in limited supply and will never be available again. Each month, in addition to the handcrafted pen, you will receive a special surprise! This may be ink, paper, refills, or something else offered by Provincial Mills. You can choose to receive a mix of fountain, rollerball, and ballpoint pens or select which types of pens you prefer! You will also receive a handwritten note from the artisan describing the material that was used to make your pen.
Black 'Pen Plan' -
This plan doesn't have the appeal of rare pen materials like the Gold Pen Plan, but offers its own unique selection of pens. The majority of the pens in this plan are made from exotic wood and acrylic, although we do throw in the occasional rare or historical material! You won't get a special surprise each month, like you will with the gold plan, but throughout the 12-month subscription, you will receive at least four bottles of fountain pen inks. You can choose to receive a mix of fountain, rollerball, and ballpoint pens or select which types of pens you prefer! The artisan crafts a handwritten note to accompany your item(s) explaining your package!
The 'Pen Plan' runs on a 12-month cycle. The first monthly installment is billed through our website or Etsy (depending on where you are right now). Unlike other subscription plans, we will not automatically charge your card each month and send you something that we hope you won't have the energy to return. Instead, on the 25th of each month after the first month, you will be sent an invoice through PayPal. If you would like to receive your 'Pen Plan' shipment, simply pay the invoice within one week! 'Pen Plan' subscriptions will be shipped by the 15th of the following month.
After you choose a 'Pen Plan' you should make your initial purchase on Etsy or our website. Once we receive your order, Provincial Mills will contact you to ensure we know what types of pens you like and ask more information so we can customize your subscription. We may contact you via email or telephone.
These pens are custom made for each recipient. In order to keep prices low, subscriptions are not eligible for return. For this reason, we require your advance approval and payment, each month before crafting your 'Pen Plan' shipment.
This subscription was designed to be a fun surprise for the recipient, not a financial burden. Unlike most subscription plans, there is no obligation. Because we handcraft each pen upon payment of the 'Pen Plan' subscription fee, if a PayPal invoice is paid outside the timeframe indicated above, there is a chance you will have to wait until the following month to receive your month's order.
Questions and Answers:
Can I choose what type of pens I receive?
Yes. Even though we want this to be a surprise, we also want to you be happy! When we contact you to customize your subscription, we will talk about what kinds of pens you like and get a feeling for what you are looking for from the subscription.
Do I have to pay for monthly shipping?
No. Provincial Mills covers the cost of shipping.
When will I receive my first pen box?
If your payment was received within a week of the 25th of the month, you will receive your first 'Pen Plan' shipment in the middle of the following month. We do not send you name brand pens; we hand craft and customize everything. This means that it does take us a little more time to make the pens and get them shipped to you.
I had some unexpected expenses this month, can I skip one month of my pen subscription plan?
Absolutely! You are in charge of your plan. If you need to skip a month and pick up the plan the following month, that is okay!
I just purchased the subscription plan through your website, what happens now?
This is when the fun begins. We will reach out to you via email, messenger, or telephone within 1 week. We will either send you a questionnaire or ask you a series of questions (this will not take longer than 10 minutes). Remember, we tailor each plan to the customer, and these questions help us do just that. Once we have the information, we start making the subscription plan and creating your first pen!
Where are the pens made?
All of the pens are made at our shop located in Canon City, Colorado. We handcraft all of the pen bodies, assemble the pens, and test them. The nibs, ink refills, and metal fittings are made off sight by other companies.
Acrylic is crafted and manufactured by Provincial Mills!
Elk/deer antler is obtained by our family and friends, from within the state of Colorado, (under most circumstances), and
Wood comes from various suppliers.

Pen Plan shipments are sent via the USPS. If for some reason this is a problem, please let us know. Most of these packages will be shipped priority. Provincial Mills covers all shipping costs. We can also add Signature confirmation to packages. If you would like Signature Confirmation, please let us know and we will add the charge ($2.45) to your order.
The USPS offers the following timelines as a guide (not guaranteed) for package delivery within the United States:
First Class Mail: 2-5 day
Parcel select Ground: 2-9 days
Priority mail: 1-3 days
Once the package is shipped you will be notified and furnished with a tracking number. We have seldom had any problems with lost packages shipped through the USPS. With that said, if your package is lost, please contact us as soon as possible so we can assist with solving the problem. Our subscription packages will always be insured, so we will cover lost or damaged products. Unfortunately, our insurance ends once the package has been delivered, so please make sure you have a safe and secure location for the USPS to drop the package and please double check your address to ensure it is correct.

We accept credit cards, Etsy gift cards, and Paypal. Customers within the state of Colorado will be charged 5.4% sales tax.
We offer free First Class shipping through the USPS on certain items. We do ship certain items or offer shipping upgrades for Priority Mail through the USPS. We also utilize Parcel select Ground through the USPS for packages that are too large for First Class. We can also add Signature confirmation to packages. We ship items next business day under most circumstances, but there are times when we are unable to ship orders the following day. If there will be a delay in shipment due to our shop being closed or we are away at a show, we will have a message posted on our "Shop Announcement" section of our home page (near the top of the page). During busy holiday seasons there are times when we are unable to ship next day.
Once the package is shipped you will be notified and furnished with a tracking number. We have seldom had any problems with lost packages shipped through the USPS. With that said, if your package is lost, please contact us as soon as possible so we can assist with solving the problem.
***International Shipping*** Provincial Mills will purchase insurance on packages sent through the USPS. Once the package leaves the custody of the USPS we can no longer cover damaged or lost packages.

We stand behind the craftsmanship of our products 100%. If you are not happy with your purchase, please contact us within 21 days and return the undamaged product within 30 days and we will refund the purchase price minus a 10% restocking fee (max restocking fee of $17.50). Returned items must be in the same condition as they were when shipped (no scratches, wear and tear, broken pieces ect.). Due to the nibs and ink used in fountain pens, the fountain pens must be unused if returned. Return shipping is paid for by the customer and will not be refunded.

We can craft just about anything and are willing to take the extra step to make your experience a positive one. We utilize another local small business for engraving.
